[ Jesse has met a few faces since she's arrived here in Haven. She's still feeling it out. Especially since she doesn't quite trust a few things about this place. Well, more than a few things. More like the whole thing. ]

"Now that sounds like something out of a Stephen King novel."

'The Shinning, anyone?' A single eyebrow raises at the statement. 'I guess we're not the only ones trying to feel the other person out.'

"Isolation? There's plenty of different ways you could use that word. Which, you'd know, being a writer."

[ 'Jerry... sounds simple enough. Then again, that's what we would of thought about Ahti. I wonder if he's still on vacation?' Jesse glances to the side. Polaris could probably reach out to the Oldest House's wayward janitor. Better to keep things focused on the tasks at hand though. ]

Do you think you could take me to Jerry?

A simple enough task. [She waves for Jesse to follow her, then leads the way towards the information booth.]

He'll tell you what he can.

"Life imitates art, huh?"

He's still keeping it casual, keeping it cool, trying to let his senses really dig into the darkness inside of Jesse. Not doing anything to seize it, mind you. Just reading.

"Well, yeah. When I'm working on something, I gotta clear all distractions. Lock myself in a room and focus. Isolate, y'know. And being alone for too long can do stuff to you, can't it?" A beat. "Oh - not that a beautiful woman like yourself would know what it's like to be alone for a long time. I'm sure you can try to imagine it, though."

[ Jesse nods, following after her. She makes sure to stay close... but not right on top of her. Just enough so she won't leave Jesse's eyesight and she'd get lost. ]

Any other tips for a new person besides Talk to Jerry?

"I'm not sure that's the art I'd want to immitate."

Especially after the things she had seen in the Oldest House.

"You'd be surprised." Jesse responds flatly, doing her best not to roll her eyes. How about a slightly different approach. Alan had mentioned a name in side that room. "Does the name Thomas Zane ring a bell?"

Not taking the bait yet. That's fine. He'll hit the right nerve before too long.

At the name, he lifts an eyebrow. "Thomas Zane? Yeah. I know of him. Surprised you do. Pretty obscure."

"I know a bit of poetry. I wouldn't say I'm a master of any of it." Jesse keeps her face straight as she looks him up and down. "Did you ever meet him? I mean, given you're a writer and he's a filmmaker. Those run in the same circles. Kind of."

Given the fact that most often books were turned into tv series, movies, video games...

And, oh, she's sure he's going to educate her on how Zane fell out of the popular eye and into obscurity. How else do you describe no one else knowing anything he ever made? Then, the fact Wake seemed to be talking to someone who claimed to be Zane. That's the part that really confuses her.

Scratch doesn't really like thinking about Zane, anyway. He's associated mostly with a lot of headache in the Herald of Darkness's head. He shrugs a little, letting a little of the disdain edge into his tone.

"I mean, not every writer is Stephen King. But yeah, we've met once or twice."

He crosses his arms, tilting his head a little bit.

"Why do you ask?"

"That's... probably a good thing."

Jesse knows more of Stephen King. Still, if every single writer was like one another? There wouldn't be much point in the whole creative process. Even if that isn't the whole point of the conversation.

A shrug. "You two didn't really seem to be seeing eye to eye."
