Welcome to Haven:
What: It's moving day for everyone.
Where: Haven MagLev Train/Haven Train Station and then Jerry's Info Booth for the Newbies.
When: 04/28 - Morning
Warnings: There will be swearing, probably mentions of violence. Will update as needed.
This FluxOver starts a lot differently than the others. For starters, everyone and we mean everyone is waking up on a train. No one's waking up in their homes. The first sound anyone hears isn't an alarm clock. It's the steady hum and squeal of the MagLev train just barely skimming it's rails as it makes a turn towards the Haven Train Station and then a deep, gravely, lightly accented male voice saying:
"Haven Train Station! Last stop! Everyone off!
And then the grinding of brakes as the train slows down to a bit of a harsh stop. With so many people stuffed into the train like sardines, it's probably hot and crowded, and everyone wants off. It's also very likely you're going to wake up leaning on someone. Do you know them? Are they a stranger? Let's hope you didn't drool while you were sleeping, or snore too loudly.
When the doors open, the heat probably gets a bit worse and the crowd is very eager to get off the train. Jostling and bumping, it seems as though no one cares who they smack into, they just want off. Since it's the last stop, it's probably best you depart, too. Should you choose to stick on the train, you'll find that while it does depart the Haven Train Station eventually, it just goes through a foggy area that seems to lead right back to the Haven Train Station. It'll keep doing so until you depart the train. Once the last person is off, the train will roll away and disappear in the distance.
For all the newcomers, you'll feel an impulse to go right to the very ramshackle-looking information booth, where a gentleman named Jerry has your information packet. For everyone else, your phones will start buzzing and a voice will start giving you directions, leading you back home and we're sorry to say it, but your homes have taken on the external appearance of everything else around them. Pieced together, rusty. Built more for survival and less for visual appeal.
Again; externally. Internally, you'll find that nothings changed and home is just as you remember it. And for anyone that got anything for FluxMas, you'll find your stuff waiting for you in the kitchen of your homes. Unless it's a vehicle. You'll find the keys to that in your pockets, shortly after stepping into your houses.
Settle in. Explore. Find your friends.

Welcome to Haven.

oh man, yesssssss, lets GO
he never did like public transit.
that is the ironic thing. wechester approached him about being on the board. he's made it work and situated himself in a valuable position between both camps. a way to protect his fellow fluxing reality visitors from the people they might meet in any potential hostile environment. it's a bit more office politics than he prefers, but, it's better than nothing.
dick is in luck that bruce has no idea there's an alternate version of his once ward, adopted son, here amongst them. he lacks so many of his tools he had back home that being able to gather the information he can is grating to say the least. he relies on what he can see with his eyes, on the network, and what he can dig through with the encryption levels he has figured out.
he looks at the younger man that's stepped up beside him. mark him as another person who has fluxed in with them. ]
I imagine it has something to do with the two suns. [ the bruce wayne the public knows. smile, a bit of a witty quip, and a nod up to the sky above.
he's already begun to wonder what it's going to do to the two kryptonians he knows of here amongst them. ] Did you just arrive with everyone else?
no subject
Yeah, I was on the train. ( technically, he did just arrive here to haven so... ) But I was also here before the change. ( okay, looks like he is going to just spew it all out. he's never been one for small talk anyways. what are they going to do otherwise? keep discussing the weather? )
You're Bruce. ( he turns to face him. ) I'm Dick. Dick Grayson. ( might as well see if that rings a bell. who knows? this version of bruce might not even know him. maybe the dick back in his world never lost his parents, never had to be adopted by a billionaire who ended up weaponizing his childhood; who turned his grief into something else -- something dark. maybe that dick's just a regular guy, living a regular life. if that's the case, guess he'll just say 'nice to meet you' and walk away. )
no subject
[ a casual retort of 'bruce wayne, I'm verified on the network. how can i help?' dies on the tip of his tongue as the younger man continues. That perfectly crafted, practiced expression of his fails entirely. several emotions cross over his eyes at once as he runs the possibilities in his head. it's a joke - one that isn't very funny at all. maybe the younger man is lying - no, because the hesitation on his face says otherwise. the multiverse has to be pulling the rug from under him. first Clark Kent before he's met bruce, and now dick? no, the muliverse doesn't have a proven will of its own.
reality is simply something that is meant to keep shattering as new events unfold and information piles in. Other versions of his world - of himself. ways similar events have unfolded. now, someone who was a ghost to him, but very much alive for another version of himself. diamonds absolute.
this version of his adopted son is older than his own had been. he's not sure how much older, but, it's clear in voice and in frame. he's accomplished in his own right. proud, standing tall, and very much alive. breathing - existing. maybe he's kept up the fight? maybe he's thrown the towel in. there's not enough he can go on just yet.
HA HA HA. THE JOKES ON YOU, BATMAN.
his expression finally settles on something sad. distant. almost like he's wondering if he's still dreaming now. ]
Dick. [ more of a way to say that he knows the name, and not just in passing. ] ... you look well.
[ you're not dead for starts. ]
no subject
You look well too, Bruce. ( at least, on the outside. who knows what's going on in that head of his. if this bruce is batman then dick knows more than ever that he's got rage and darkness inside of him too. well, now that they've both managed to state the obvious... )
Do you mind if we go somewhere to talk? ( talk. that's something he'd avoided doing with bruce back home. when dick had made the decision to leave gotham, he'd just packed up and left. no explanation, nothing. guess he just kind of ran, feeling desperate to get away. he'd blamed bruce for how he'd turned out and he felt that he needed to make some changes in his life. )
no subject
even if he does pull the team together like arthur has said.
a long glance is sent to the small group gathered outside the information booth. his arms cross, but he nods. its best to discuss where the two of them come from. how to relate to one another. where to go from here. ]
If you know of a place.
no subject
deciding to start walking, dick crosses the street, headed for nowhere in particular, hands in his pocket, trying to think of how he should start this conversation. he's guessing that there's bound to be a lot they don't know about each other. it could be that the only thing they've got in common is their names. )
So, does Batman have a Robin? ( well, he's not beating around the bush, that's for sure. )
no subject
He did. A long time ago. [ it's a gentle confirmation while leaving out the details. he wouldn't want to answer those questions to a robin that actually lived -- one that didn't fall for the trap. ] Does Robin have a Batman?
no subject
He does actually. ( or he did. it's complicated and he doesn't want to get into that right now. he'd failed to have a conversation about it with the bruce back home that he doubts he can with this one here. better to just keep it simple while he's still trying to figure his shit out. )
Bruce adopted me when I was a kid and... I guess, he raised me the way he knew how. ( he glances over at bruce just then, trying to imagine him as the batman. it's funny how no one would ever think that this guy spends his nights dressed up in a cape and a mask. but that was one of the first things he'd learned from bruce: how to disguise himself and how to do it well. how to carry himself in a way that was different from robin. and as it turns out, that was easy. after all, robin's an angry fuck who tended to beat people senseless. )
no subject
That's good.
[ bruce nods to his statement. ]
I met Dick the night his parents were murdered. I took him in after that. [ he feels it's fair enough to be as honest about that as possible. why bother hiding it? ] Not that he's here. Some people are from home, but, no one from Gotham.
no subject
Would've liked to have met him if he was here. ( why not, right? another dick. maybe they can swap stories about their childhood growing up. it'd be nice to know he's not alone in his how's feeling sometimes. they probably have a lot in common. )
Is there an Alfred back home? ( come on. there has to be an alfred. he'd been a constant in their lives and he'd always been there for them. )
no subject
[ bruce isn't sure how well it would have gone. did his robin blame him for everything that had happened? regardless of what anyone would say? bruce feels it is his fault. he should of tried harder to keep dick safe; to keep him from the trap joker set. but, that small part of him also knows that dick would have defied his request and gone in anyways. ]
There is. He's one of the few that are still there. [ a pause. ] And still wondering when I'll finally settle down.
