Welcome to Haven:

What: It's moving day for everyone.
Where: Haven MagLev Train/Haven Train Station and then Jerry's Info Booth for the Newbies.
When: 04/28 - Morning
Warnings: There will be swearing, probably mentions of violence. Will update as needed.

This FluxOver starts a lot differently than the others. For starters, everyone and we mean everyone is waking up on a train. No one's waking up in their homes. The first sound anyone hears isn't an alarm clock. It's the steady hum and squeal of the MagLev train just barely skimming it's rails as it makes a turn towards the Haven Train Station and then a deep, gravely, lightly accented male voice saying:

"Haven Train Station! Last stop! Everyone off!

And then the grinding of brakes as the train slows down to a bit of a harsh stop. With so many people stuffed into the train like sardines, it's probably hot and crowded, and everyone wants off. It's also very likely you're going to wake up leaning on someone. Do you know them? Are they a stranger? Let's hope you didn't drool while you were sleeping, or snore too loudly.

When the doors open, the heat probably gets a bit worse and the crowd is very eager to get off the train. Jostling and bumping, it seems as though no one cares who they smack into, they just want off. Since it's the last stop, it's probably best you depart, too. Should you choose to stick on the train, you'll find that while it does depart the Haven Train Station eventually, it just goes through a foggy area that seems to lead right back to the Haven Train Station. It'll keep doing so until you depart the train. Once the last person is off, the train will roll away and disappear in the distance.

For all the newcomers, you'll feel an impulse to go right to the very ramshackle-looking information booth, where a gentleman named Jerry has your information packet. For everyone else, your phones will start buzzing and a voice will start giving you directions, leading you back home and we're sorry to say it, but your homes have taken on the external appearance of everything else around them. Pieced together, rusty. Built more for survival and less for visual appeal.

Again; externally. Internally, you'll find that nothings changed and home is just as you remember it. And for anyone that got anything for FluxMas, you'll find your stuff waiting for you in the kitchen of your homes. Unless it's a vehicle. You'll find the keys to that in your pockets, shortly after stepping into your houses.

Settle in. Explore. Find your friends.

Welcome to Haven.

Gwen had bought a kit to make her own board, complete with tools and stickers, and she was currently fitting a wheel onto part of it as she watched the crowd. They were all kids she knew from school, from when school was still in session, but the way they were acting was very odd indeed. It did seem to follow the whole 'this place has always been INSERT NAME OF PLACE HERE' thing that each new town brought.

Months ago, this place would have been Beachville and the people would have been kinder. Or Wechester, where the people were maybe a bit rough but still decent. Or even Driftcrest where, at the end, people were huggers who were so grateful to see you alive or thankful you helped in rescuing loved ones.

But this place? This place was the roughest one yet.

When the man nearby speaks, Gwen's spider-hearing picks up on it and she looks over, first at Loki and then at the person pulling some alright tricks.

"It helps that the gravity is lower than normal," Gwen says, trying to not sound too terribly impressed. But she was. She's not gonna lie, there. "But, yeah...that was pretty good."

She looks at Loki again, pierced eyebrow ticking upward in curiosity. "You a local or...?" Or did you happen to find yourself here, much like she did.

If Loki was surprised the girl heard him, he didn't show it, and when he responded to her question, he didn't turn from his watching at first, only leaning his head in her direction slightly to let her know he was responding to her specifically.

"Heavens no. This place is disgusting." It wasn't the worst world he'd seen, but it certainly wasn't glorious. Then he did turn to her. "And neither are you, I take it."

"Nope. I'm from a different universe. One that doesn't change every few months," Gwen states, finally getting the wheel on the board and giving it a test spin. She tilts her ear towards it some, listening carefully before smiling just a bit.

"When I got here, this whole place was a beach town and the residents were some of the nicest people I've met in the Multiverse. Here?"

A look that says 'not so much' on her face, pierced eyebrow raising in mild irritation before she points out a couple of the teenagers nearby. Two of whom look like they might have gotten their asses kicked recently. "Those guys, however, have remained assholes throughout every setting change." A pause, and she looks at the man again.

"I had nothing to do with their appearance, by the way." She didn't. She knows who did it, but...that's irrelevant.

"I'm Gwen."

Now that got his attention far more than the skating did, not that he didn't still find the pastime interesting enough to explore later. "So the nature of this dimension changes, but some of its residents remain the same?" He followed her gaze to the mentioned young men. They certainly carried the marks of men who'd spoken out of turn to the wrong person.

"Or some are simply true to their natures and others are victims of circumstance." Because anyone from this place would be disgruntled, cheerful or not. He turned his gaze back to her, shoulders raising slightly in a shrug. "Even if you were, what does it matter? I'm sure they deserved it."

He inclined his head in greeting. "Loki of Asgard. Well-met, Gwen of Some Other Universe." The smile he gave with his greeting was playful, the address clearly a tease rather than anything serious, before shifting his attention to the project she'd paused to speak with him before looking back to the others enjoying the skatepark.

"This sport seems to favor thrill-seekers. I take it you'd count yourself among their number?"
