For Sam 06/05/21 - evening
But Gwen could never pinpoint a reason. It was hard to do so with how unwilling to talk they were, so Gwen was going to give it some space.
Besides, she really did need to try to remember what it was like to have friends. So she reached out to Sam and set a time for a girls night in.
"Okay...pizza's going to be done in like...ten minutes," Gwen says, checking her watch. It was home-made. Finding pizza in Haven had been really impossible. She wasn't sure a pizza place existed. But she knew how to make dough, how to make sauce, and how to make mozzarella, so Gwen did the best with what she had.
"What movie did you decide on?" she asks her friend, peeking out of the kitchen at her.
For Miles:
"We change setting, most of the people around us that didn't flux in change with it...but Derek and his band of idiots are still absolute dicks?"
Oh, there's more.
"And they're worse than before?" Gwen turns to look at Derek who still bore the scars of the complete ass-kicking Hawk gave him in Driftcrest, tilting her head just a bit to study the guy a tad more.
"How is that fair?" Why can't they get a nice Derek, Miles? Wasn't he so much nicer in Wechester? She remembers him being less of a dick and more of a mild irritant at best. Like a stupid mosquito. Whiny, hovered a bit but always buzzed off to annoy someone else.
She had her custom skateboard on her legs, nose wrinkling in frustration. Glancing at the compass tattoo on her wrist and then looks at Derek again, frowning. He was pretty much the reason she got this person-finding tattoo, what with Hawk going briefly missing that day.
"Okay. Here's the plan. We ignore him? But also use everything we have to keep our eyes on him. He's been trying to kick the skateboards out from under people and I swear to God, if he hurts anyone?"
He's fucked, is what Gwen is saying.
Late Night 06/08/21
So she showered, put on her pajamas and headed to the couch to watch a movie on TV. That was surely the best way to stay awake and wait for her boyfriend.
But the problem with that is Gwen is comfortable on the couch, tucked into her favorite blanket, and the show that's on is a rerun of something she's seen a dozen times at home, so it's not new enough to keep her focus.
Not only that, but apparently the solar paneling on the roof has decided this moment was the best time to go out. And Gwen knows enough of Haven by now to know that the power always comes back on in anywhere from a few minutes, to half an hour later.
So, comfortable in the dark, feeling relaxed from the shower, and enjoying the quiet of the house, Gwen does the only thing that makes sense.
She falls asleep.
She's vaguely aware of the sound of the front door opening, but as her danger sense isn't screaming at her that she's in trouble, she stays asleep. Curled up in a ball. Snoring softly. Miles Purrales may possibly be sleeping on her legs. It's where he sleeps best.

But for real, it sucks and he hates it.
Watching Derek from his own spot, he glances at Gwen and nods. "Yeah, I caught him doing it a couple of times too. How bad would it be if his skateboard, uh...accidentally get stuck to the ground?"
No, of course he wouldn't do that. Y'know, probably.

Sitting next to miles with a huff, watching Derek carefully, she really thinks that whole 'stuck skateboard' thing over a time or two.
And then she comes to the conclusion that it wouldn't be good. Much as she wants to. She's still sort of pissed about having to climb through gross sewers and getting attacked by a giant-ass skitter, and blames him for it.
But neither Ghost-Spider or Arachnid should take to that kind of behavior.
"Probably not the best idea. Much as I'd love to."

Kreese was not here, and she was far from any karate wars or 30+ years of rivalry and trauma that had come to a head before Christmas. Sam definitely still had issues with sleeping and flashes of fighting with Tory, and the look on her dad's face when she and Miguel had shown up at Cobra Kai. She was going through a lot but she didn't want to worry anyone so she mostly kept it to herself. Everyone here had their own problems. Sam was not going to act like a spoiled little rich girl and whine about hers.
Gwen's girls night was a great idea to Sam, and she hoped it would help her get out of this funk she was feeling. Something to distract her. "Great," Sam said with a nod when Gwen told her the pizza was almost done.
"I don't know, I can't decide." Sam said when Gwen asked about what movie she'd picked. "We should decide on a genre first and that might make it easier." Sam didn't want to make Gwen watch something she didn't like or something. Maybe she was overthinking this. She definitely needed to relax a little.

No. Here? In this universe?
She just has to remember what it's like to be friends with someone. And she's doing okay, if she says so herself.
Checking the pizza again, she turns and heads back to Sam with a slight tilt of her head.
"What about a comedy?" God knows they could use a mindless laugh.
no subject
"Yeah, I know." He hadn't really meant it, as much as it would've been nice to give him a taste of his own medicine. But it definitely wouldn't have been a responsible use of their abilities.
"I can't guarantee that I won't punch him if he tries it on either of us, though."

"Something stupid funny or a rom com or what? We could go 80s." Sam had a fondness for 80s movies. They were just kind of comforting to her. Maybe Gwen liked them too. But Sam wasn't opposed to something more recent.
"What's Hawk doing tonight? Did he and Miles decide to hang out?"
no subject
"I think he has work until late. We really need to shove those boys together and get them to do something."
no subject
"We do," Sam agreed. Hawk could use some good influences in his life and Miles was just so nice.

And Sam had been through a literal karate war.
So they deserved something stupid and funny.
"That sounds awesome." Gwen says with a grin. "Hey, what if the four of us did something? Some kind of game night or whatever?"
She actually doesn't know what teenagers do, okay. She's just not sure.

Watching Derek a moment, she tilts her head a bit and all anger fades away to confusion as she watches him attempt what she's guessing is some kind of trick. It looks stupid. He looks stupid, but his friends are cheering him on and applauding as if whatever he tried was a huge success.
"That...I don't even know what he just tried," Gwen says, turning to look at Miles. "You did see that, right?"
no subject
Miles can't help but frown a bit as they continue watching Derek and his group, and he sits up a little more.
"I...think so?" he replies, glancing back at her. "I'm just not sure what I saw."
no subject
"I'm sure we could find something for all of us to do, even if not a game night. We all like movies, right?" Maybe they could find something to watch. Or they could do some kata.
