It isn't that the apartments aren't nice. They're fine. It's that Donna had offered, and Heisenberg would rather go with the devil he knows, as the saying goes. So he knocks on the door and hopes to hell that none of Donna's magical hallucination flowers made the trip with her.
"If I do, am I gonna start, ah, seeing things?" Despite the presence of the yellow flowers -- and Angie's friends -- Heisenberg does feel a bit better, being in a familiar place.
Beyond that, he's happy to see Donna with her veil off. It's such a rare occasion, and Heisenberg is a little flattered that she's comfortable enough around him to take it off.
He steps inside, taking in his surroundings. Just like he remembered it. "Thank you, Donna. For letting me stay here. We ought to stick together in a new place, right?"
"No. Not unless I...not unless I wanted to make you. But I don't."
Once he's inside, Donna shuts the door, walking over to the wall of the foyer to take down the spare key for him. Angie growls again, tiny body vibrating with rage while she watches the puppeteer hold it out to Karl.
"Of course. I...it will be...nice. Not to be alone in this house." A beat. "I have had...a little company."
Some on friendly terms, some not, from the way she says it.
"Oh...you...you didn't?" It never really occurred to her, the idea that the others didn't know that much about her. But it makes sense. She always did keep her head down, keep hidden. "...Yes. The flowers are spliced. And I can...emit something that reacts with them. Make people see what I want them to see. Or what they want to see."
Greetings exchanged, she walks him over to the table in the living room, where a steaming pot of coffee is sitting out with two settings. Angie takes her own little seat at the table, tapping her little fingers obnoxiously on the tiny cup.
"Oh, well...I...took care of the unexpected guests," Donna mumbles, taking her seat. "But a couple of them were...here to see me. As...ah...." The word still feels alien.
Karl holds his hand out to pull out his chair -- and it takes him a few beats to realize that the chair isn't coming to him. Because it's made of wood. "Ah. Right."
So he pulls the chair out the usual way and sits, serving Donna some coffee before serving himself. "You're making friends?" That makes him smile a little, and he wraps his hands around the coffee cup while he waits a moment for it to cool. "Well I'm happy to hear that."
In spite of herself, even Donna's stoic, anxious face twitches a little smile at his folly. It makes sense, though. She'll have to attach metal plates to the chairs for him later.
She takes the coffee with a little nod of thanks, reddening a fraction. "...Thank you. I'm...trying, anyway."
"ONE OF THEM IS A PRINCESS," Angie trills, miming a crown over her head with spindly wooden fingers.

Angie's clearly unhappy with him, but Angie can go hang for all he cares.
"Unpleasant company? We might be able to fix that."
