Arrivals - Beachville pt 2: OTA!
Who: New Arrivals, Jerry Schiff and YOU!!
What: More arrivals show up in Beachville. There are cookies for the people that behave.
Where: The Information Booth which, while at the same place it always is, seems to have changed a tad!
When: Mid-Morning, September 27th.
Warnings: Just mind your CWs. There's probably swearing, too.
It starts off simple enough. There isn't even any warning. No feeling like something's coming. No little instinct in the back of your head or what have you that tells you change is coming. You blink, your setting has changed. It's as simple and as quick as that. From where you stand, you're surrounded by tall palm trees. The ground beneath your feet is green, a well maintained lawn like one would find in a city park. A clean, salty scent only found on untouched, tropical paradises. You can hear the sounds of the beach. People laughing, amusement park rides thundering in the background. And it's actually pretty peaceful. Even the weather is perfect. Just the right amount of Summer heat without being muggy or humid. There are tropical birds singing in the trees around you, and a light breeze in the trees, rustling the leaves. It's pleasant. Until someone clears their throat nearby. And this is when you notice you're not the only person standing there with a confused look on your face. You're part of a crowd, surrounding an information booth with an older gentleman inside, several stone paths leading away from the booth and towards the nearby beach town.
Was that information booth always there? And how long has the man inside been watching you with that look on his face that suggests he's internally sighing at your presence? He seems friendly enough, however, and once all eyes are on him, he begins speaking.
"Can I have your attention please?" he says, voice calm, lightly accented, fairly monotone, but still gets your attention just the same. And certainly 'no nonsense.' "My name is Jerry Schiff and I run the information booth. I have several envelopes with names on them, so if you hear your name, please step forward and claim your money and information."
With that, he runs down the list of names. And what do you know, your name is on that list.
When you approach, you'll be handed a packet containing money, enough to get through the month, and an information pamphlet about Beachville, along with a note from the mayor welcoming you to town and telling you your stipend only lasts so long and there are many employment opportunities in town. There's also a map with an address and a set of keys. This is where you'll live. The last thing he says to you is to check the chest in your living-room, you'll know which one, before he hands the polite people a box of cookies. They smell amazing and the box is warm, like they're very, very fresh. You might even find your favorite cookies in the box. They've won awards and are delicious. Just as an aside, though; for anyone that's rude, no cookies. For anyone that tries to take a box anyway, they'll find the box is empty. Maybe even full of dead leaves and rocks. That's what you get for acting up, apparently.
Rude enough and he'll shut the information booth windows. No amount of knocking and screaming, magic or psychic abilities will get the doors open again. The booth is pretty resistant, as is the man inside.
Once everyone has their information, Jerry will thank everyone for their cooperation, close the booth down and head into town. Try to follow him. After rounding a corner, he'll seem to vanish and no amount of looking will find him again.
It seems as though the only things left to do are either talk to the people around you, or find your new home.

All in all, it was dangerous thoughts to have and a somewhat bitter reminder of why she tried to keep her distance from others. Why she should have never allowed to let herself fall for anyone of them.
She was still thinking about it, trying to push the darker thoughts away from her head, when she bumped into someone. She started to apologize as her gaze darted up at the same instant someone said her name. A familiar voice that she had heard only hours before and yet felt like the source could be completely out of reach. Looking up into his face and the steely blue eyes behind a pair of glasses, Courtney felt vague like the world had been swept out from under her feet but it was a good feeling.
"Dennis!" His name was a broken gasp before she threw herself forward, not caring about personal space for a moment as she flung her arms around him and held on. "Gods, I thought you were gone!"

Dennis didn’t know what to do with this.
For a second he just stood, frozen, being hugged...but after a moment, one hand found its way to ready on the center of her back.
Then the other. Then he was wrapping his arms around her, hesitantly bending his head to breathe in the scent of her shampoo...
More than lust hit him in that moment—longing threatened to choke him, and it was just too much.
Suddenly, the Light was slipping away from him, and into the hands of someone that didn’t belong—Dennis must have screwed up and given him some indication it was safe...
The arms around her tightened slowly, firm but gentle as he withdrew just enough to look into her face—with Kevin’s weary, puzzled eyes.
“Hey.” He greeted her, confused and surprised but happy all the same. “Hey, I gotcha...”
He trailed off, suddenly realizing they weren’t at her place like the last time he’d seen her.
“...uh...this doesn’t look like any of the domes, Courtney...”

But then he was retreating for another reason as she felt the energy inside of him change, shifting with a whisper until she felt a rare but familiar energy that she could recognize.
She leaned back to look at Kevin, meeting his gaze with a little blink before she offered a small smile when she saw the happiness there. "I see that."
It was kind of nice to hear that he was there but then she paused, nodding her head slowly as she looked around. "It seems we were pulled to another universe."

...so blind.
Frowning, Kevin reached up hesitantly and removed Dennis's glasses from his face with a sigh of relief. Folding them carefully, he slid them into his shirt pocket and faced Courtney again.
Who, in and of herself, wasn't so scary. It could be so much worse, they could be alone here...but she was here. Here, on the boardwalk with people laughing and the roar of rides, and it should have been pure terror but it wasn't.
It was...maybe...just a tiny bit magical.
"...can I kiss you?"
He hadn't meant to say it...but there it was, and Kevin was nervous--but he didn't want to take it back.

Maybe it would help and maybe it wouldn't but she was hoping the fact that she was right there in front of him would do something for him. It definitely soothed the worry she had been feeling along with the intense pangs of loneliness that had been a part of missing him. Of missing them.
Then she blinked in surprise at the sudden question about kissing her. Tilting her head back to look at his face, she studied him for a second or two before smiling softly with a nod. "Yes, of course."

But Barry was there, shoving him forward again with pure delight.
Nope. Get out there, Tiger—kiss the dang girl already!
Cupping her cheek in one hand, Kevin leaned forward to press his lips to hers—gentle and soft, lacking Barry’s skill and heat but warm and heartfelt.
When the kiss broke, there were tears in his eyes—but a smile on his face.
“I didn’t know that could feel so good.” He confessed softly, rolling his lips together like he could catch a taste of her lingering on them.

It was the perfect kind of first kiss, the kind you usually only read about or saw in cheesy romance movies where there was a swell of music right as the moment happened. There were noise and music from the rides all around them, of course, but it all faded into the background as she kissed him.
Her features were soft as she leaned back to look at him when the kiss broke, a smile appearing once more as she saw the look on his face and reached up to caress his cheek.
"It does when it's right." She murmured in return, leaning up to kiss his other cheek.

It was so right it scared him...and he lost his grip on the Light.
When Courtney drew back again, it was Barry offering her a smile both rueful and awed.
"Hey, baby girl." he drawled, leaning forward to rest his forehead against hers. "Sorry Kev slipped out, but maaaaan, am I ever glad to see you..."

"Hey," She murmured in response, moving to slide her arms around his waist as he leaned down to touch his forehead against hers. She let her eyes drift closed then as she continued to smile, giving him a little squeeze.
"You have no idea how happy I am to see you guys. I really thought..." Trailing off, she pressed her lips together as she swallowed against the surge of emotions that plagued her. Emotions that she hadn't wanted to look too closely at when she thought they would never see each other again even just for a few minutes.

His smile grew a notch--then out of the blue, Barry crouched, wrapped his arms around her hips, and lifted her into the air with a growl, spinning her in a playful circle as he grinned up at her.
"So get used ta yer new shadow, sexy! We're goin' absolutely nowhere."

"Thankfully I like bad pennies." She started to say before he was suddenly scooping her up, causing her to squeal as she caught herself by grabbing onto his shoulders while he spun her around.
Then she laughed, not caring if they drew a few looks when she leaned down to kiss him again.
