Who: The students of Wechester High School of STEM and The Arts and YOU!
What: Concert, Displays of the Arts and a Science Fair!
When: Saturday October 31st to Sunday November First.
Where: The big park in the center of town.
Warnings: None.
The students at Wechester High have been working very hard to get ready for this day. Many hours were spent after school and on weekends with students perfecting dance routines, working on scientific presentations that go far beyond the usual volcanos and demonstrations on the electrical properties of a potato. There are so many talented musicians and performers and scientists in the school that it shouldn't be any wonder why they were showing off.
The first day of presentations leans towards the arts. The stage is set and used for different musical acts, dancers, short comedy routines that get huge laughs from the crowd. And there are art displays everywhere for people to look at. Sculptures. Sketches. Paintings. There's even a section dedicated to the culinary arts with students demonstrating some amazing proficiency with knife skills and talents with making unique and creative recipes.
All foods are up for sampling, and a few are up for sale. Buy some food. Enjoy.
The second day is dedicated to science projects everywhere. Marvel at a display of a working floating rail system, done by a kid who looks a lot like a much younger Jerry. There are presentations on energy conservation, displays on various and interesting gardening techniques that conserve water. Really, it seems as though there isn't anything these kids didn't think up.
So wander. Enjoy the various displays and concessions. Listen to some amazing music. Enjoy your weekend!

Science and Chemistry
Peter's nearby his lab partner, and happily explaining the ins and outs of his very impressive project. He's put a lot of work into this and anyone that stops buy is getting an ear full all about the project. His partner isn't doing much more than sitting in a chair and letting Parker do all the talking.
[ The Next Two hours. ]
Things are still going well but Peter's now seated in his own chair and slouching heavily. If anyone comes up to their station though, he'll hop up to greet them and talk and talk all about his amazing project and how it works. He's excited to demonstrate it. Things are going pretty well for a school function and Peter would be suspicious but he's having too much fun talking about science to anyone that will listen. His lab Partner is not nearly as enthused and seems a little annoyed.
[ A little later. ]
It's getting nearer and nearer to the time for the judges to come through with judging and Peter is getting more and more excited. Who knows how many people he's talked to about this project at this point. A group of kids that are obviously just there to pass time come up at this point and Peter, as he does, leaps up to explain his project but these guys aren't here for science.
As soon as recognition sets in, Peter immediately takes a step back but the leader of the pack gives him a rough shove and Peter stumbles back and falls up against the project, crashing into the table which manages to break and spill the contents all over-some of it's electrical and a spark ignites a fire and Peter is quickly scrambling back to his feet. The other kids are rushing off because they definitely did not cause the fire.
At least the lab Partner has the decency to run and get a fire extinguisher. Meanwhile, Peter is left with the mess and can't help but think. 'Yeah, this seems about right.'
Iron Man vs Idiot Kid: Take 1
However, that was before. Now, Tony was reaching out as the ring leader ran past him and caught the hood of his hoodie. He held on tight when the momentum almost made the kid choke himself and fall down. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't tell your parents and get you suspended for ruining someone else's project and starting a fire like a neanderthal?"

Welp. There goes his jacket. Too bad really, he liked that one. More people have noticed the fire and Peter's lab partner comes up with the extinguisher and luckily gets things under control. But that's the end of their project. Peter lets out a sigh and turns to see Tony and his face pales, stomach dropping. Of all the times Tony could have walked up..
The head honcho of the kids harassing Peter is caught by his hoodie and makes what might have been a comical sound if not for the situation.
"Let me go!" The teenage menace demands. "I didn't start a fire. Parker's the one with the dangerous project!" he says, trying to pull free of Tony's hold.
Let's go with [the next two hours] and Billy can just pretend he understands.
Mostly, he's just really confused by a lot of it. Technology is far more advanced here than anything he's ever been used to and he gets the feeling that it's not just the whole space thing, but it's interesting, at least. And it beats sitting in his apartment alone all night.
He's passing by yet another table when the kid stands abruptly, greeting him and there's something about the kid that makes Billy stop, instead of just smiling and waving as he continues on. It's an odd feeling that sits in the back of his head that he shrugs off in favour of actually listening to what the kid has to say.

"I think we have a really good chance of winning because-" And he's back on another tangent about how advanced his project is.
no subject
"Ah, yup. That sounds... awesome?"
no subject
"And, anyway-the judging's in a few hours and I think we're gonna crush this."
no subject
"I'm sure you will. Sounds like you know what you're on about." Mostly, to Billy, he just sounded a lot like Max's weird friends.
Kinda made him miss them.
Some time after a little later:
Once things seem to have settled, she looks at Peter.
"I'm quite certain that little gargoyle that trashed your work also tried to pick my pocket at the market the other day. What an absolute troll. Are you alright?"
Next Two Hours:
She had to hunt it down because it's moved a time or two, but she has it and she's handing it over with a chocolate shake.
"How's it going?"

It had taken a lot of discussion and lots of guidelines he had to follow, but Miles had convinced the school to let him use spray paints for graffiti art, just to do something different from the regular paint and clay sculptures. He'd even convinced the school to let him do some live demos, and he had an area around the art displays set up where people could watch him making some fresh art. There was a barrier to keep some distance, just so fumes wouldn't be a problem.
And since he always worked better with music, he had a boombox set up nearby, the bass rumbling beneath his feet as he mixed different colors and worked on different designs. He also seemed to take requests if people wanted something specific.
Day 1 - Walking Around
When he needed a break to clear his head, Miles would walk around taking a look at the other exhibits, enjoying the different performances and sampling some of the dishes while watching the culinary students work.
All in all, it was a fun day.
Day 2 - Exploring
While Miles himself was pretty smart, he'd decided not to participate in the Science Fair. And was he was walking around, he was glad that he hadn't because there was definitely no way he would have come up with something near as impressive as the other participants here.
So instead he got to walk around and enjoy himself, listening to the students explain their projects and watching the demonstrations in awe.
Day 1:
It sure beat private school and seemed far less stuffy.
So while she's out walking, a raspberry hand pie in one hand and a freshly made soda in the other (and the student making the sodas had explained the science behind it, much to Lara's amusement), she stops to watch Miles work.
When there's a long enough gap in what he's doing, and her mouth isn't full of delicious food, she speaks.
"You're quite talented. This is absolutely stunning," she says with a grin.

So as he considers how to fit what he wants to do, he pauses when someone spoke up behind him. Then he grins in return, flipping a can of spray paint in the air and catching it.
"Thanks," he replies with a nod of his head. "I've been practicing." With a snicker to himself, he gestures to an empty canvas. "Any requests?"
no subject
"Hmm..." she considers this a moment, tilting her head just a bit as she thinks it over. "How about something that means something to you. Something you find important."

As he started spraying the canvas with the paint he held, he reached for another nearby can, tapping it on the table to pop the top off before adding it to the canvas.
Day 1: Musical Showcase/Art Presentation/Culinary Delights - OTA. Prompts within.
Gwen really did miss performing. She missed the noise of the crowd, the energy of people having a great time. She missed the noise of being behind a drum set and the exhilaration of dancing with a group. So when she heard the school was doing a showcase, she signed up for as much as she could.
She signed up to be part of one of the Comedy Ballet Group and enjoyed the hell out of that, each 'mistake' flawlessly executed. About twenty minutes later, another group she signed up for did a choreographed routine to one of her favorite songs.
And then after a couple hours of wandering the place, she was on stage to really really show off.
Like...really show off. If people are watching her on stage, she is getting so into drumming. There's a grin on her face and when she can do so between beats without missing anything, Gwen is doing tricks with her drum sticks.
She clearly, genuinely and deeply enjoys drumming.
There might have been an eyeroll or two during one of the songs she and her group covered, but she's still enjoying it.
With her final song over, Gwen hops off stage and disappears into the crowd to try to find a familiar face.
But first...
[Food, glorious food:]
With her time on stage done, Gwen was looking to refuel. She headed to where the Culinary Arts students were set up and, with money from her jobs, bought a good amount of food. There was a chocolate croissant, a delightful chicken pot pie, a few Key Lime Cheesecake bites and she bought herself a bag of edible geodes for later.
It's the kitchen garden display that has her attention as she picks at a bag of freshly popped popcorn that had been topped with home-made butter. She won't be sharing it, but please come say hi anyway.
