Food and Film Fest: September 4th to September 7th.

This is it, folks. The moment you've been waiting for, or probably forgot about because of all the unusual nonsense going on. Don't worry; no food trucks or outdoor theaters are affected. In fact, just for this Festival? Things seem to have settled down greatly and will remain settled until September 9th, but more on that later.

But yes, grab a friend (or what have you), grab some food and grab the best spot in the sand, because Beachville's Food and Film Fest has begun! Their arrival happened overnight, set up quick, everyone is cheerful and friendly.

Get some food and film in you! And possibly even try a food challenge!

The Food Trucks:

The Mac Shack will be here for all your customize-able mac and cheese needs. They have several different kinds of cheeses, a few good pasta options and so many various toppings, it's a wonder they fit it all on the truck. Ask nicely and they'll twice bake it for you, topping it off with another handful of cheese before throwing it in the broiler to get it perfect and bubbly.

Pressed not only sells pressed sandwiches of many a variety (there might even be a dessert option or two containing marshmallows, Nutella and strawberries, or a wonderful apple pie version with a flaky biscuit instead of pie dough), but they also sell several kinds of fresh pressed juices including but not limited to:

Apple Juice
Orange Juice
Peach Juice
Watermelon Juice
Mango Juice
Strawberry Juice and a green smoothie or two.

Hole-y Donuts, Batman!

Yep. It's donuts. Fresh made as you watch. Mini-donut batter rings dropping into hot oil, floating along and being flipped by a machine and topped with whatever Saturday morning cereal you want. And if you don't want it coated in fond memories of cartoons and pajamas, you can always get it sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Or drizzled with their strawberry lemonade glaze, or dipped in chocolate and topped with strawberries.

Or plain, we guess. They're good that way, too. And yes, there is coffee. And a variety of soda products. Upsize your soda and you get a Food and Film Fest commemorative Batman cup! We're not really sure what the Dark Knight has to do with donuts, but there it is.

Fire'd Up sells brick-oven pizza on a perfectly crispy-chewy crust. They're all one size, personal size, sadly, but after taking one bite of something that tasty, you might not even want someone to look at your pizza. That's fine. Tell them to get their own, however they want it. Any toppings you can imagine, and then watch them make it, put it in the oven, and then put it in a small box for you within five minutes. Enjoy!

They also have a pizza challenge; ghost-pepper infused pizza sauce, pepperjack cheese and deep-fried habaneros. If you can eat three of these in under ten minutes, you get a t-shirt and $500 bucks. If you don't, your sorry face goes on their Wall of Flames. You have to sign a waver. (Please note, if you want your character to do this, ask mods to roll to see if your character wins the t-shirt and money. There will be one winner total.)

Sundae, Yummy Sundae sells...okay, you guessed it. Sundae's. Any variety. Any toppings you want. Any size you want. They also have milkshakes, floats, frozen chocolate dipped bananas. Waffle cones, sugar cones, pretzel cones, ice cream by the scoop. Ice cream by the gallon! Ice cream by the pint. Fried ice cream. Ice cream sandwiches. It's hot in Beachville. Ice cream is the best solution for this.

For anyone looking for another food challenge, Sundae, Yummy Sundae has the ultimate Banana Boat Sundae food challenge. For two. The prize is $500 to split between the two of you, your picture on their wall of fame and a t-shirt to remember the Food and Film festival by.

Failure gets your face on their Brain Freeze wall.

As stated, this is a two person challenge, so grab your partner and let us know. We'll roll to see how well you did.

This challenge can have three groups of winners.

Twelve scoops of ice cream

Tacos, Tacos, Tacos has some of the best tacos and nachos around. They're made quickly, however you want them. There are strange and unusual options for those that are used to that kind of thing, there are also the usual options to choose from. Expertly marinated, beef, chicken, fish. They even have a fake meat option, for anyone that doesn't care to eat meat. Their salsa is fresh and spicy, their tortillas hand-made and fried on demand for nachos. They have glass bottle sodas and some of the best dulce de leche around.

Place your order and walk away with three tacos of your choice, a side of guacamole, refried beans and seasoned corn. Find somewhere comfortable to sit, because you're going to need to once you've taken that first bite.

Fun in Funnel Cake is just what it says on the tin. Funnel cake, made to order, with several kinds of batters to choose from. They have banana batter, vanilla, chocolate or strawberry and these can be topped with anything from the standard powdered sugar, to cinnamon and sugar or various pie fillings, whipped cream made on premise and always with a cherry on top.

Baked is where you'll find your gourmet cupcakes. There's no run of the mill, basic cupcake here. No, these ones are clearly made with love. From the batter to the buttercream frosting, these cupcakes are pure magic. There's the snickerdoodle cupcake with it's cinnamon and sugar cream cheese frosting and perfectly fluffy cinnamon cake. Or the strawberry lemonade cupcake with a velvetty strawberry buttercream and lemon cake with hints of lemon zest. Their key lime cupcake has a baked meringue topping and the cake is just the right amount of tart lemon flavor.

Whatever kind of gourmet cupcake you can imagine, they probably have.

Poes 'Tatos is where you get your fries, topped with your choice of cheese, and rebaked to perfection. You can also get it topped with bacon, chopped green onions, sour cream or even their homemade chili. Whoever Poe is (and if you ask the current vendor, they'll say Poe retired), they trained their people to make french fries right.

And don't worry, for the adults in the group, there are at least three mobile bars for you to get a drink.

The Beach Theaters:

If you want to, you can take your food with you to the movies, and bluetooth headphones will be provided so you can hear the movie over the noise of the festival. All theaters start running after the sun goes down, and run all night until the sun starts coming up. Admission for the movies is two bucks a person and comes with a single free small bpopcorn per guest.

Screen One will be playing a variety of Disney films. Moana, Brave, The Princess and the Frog, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Up, The Lion King. Enjoy that!

Screen Two will be playing action/adventure films from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the original Star Wars Trilogy both the unedited versions AND the versions edited and re-released to theaters and even The Princess Bride.

Screen Three is Hitchcock films. Mostly. There's the occasional showing of The Blob, the original black and white one from way back when, but that's at the end of each night and, as the person running this particular theater will tell people just before the film starts playing people are expected to run away from the theater, screaming. Just like in the movie. But hold that for the end of the film, okay? Until then, enjoy The Birds, and Psycho. Rear Window is also on the roster, as is Vertigo, Dial M for Murder and Strangers on a Train.

This is a gathering style post. Post below with where you are and what your characters are doing, comment around. Build CR. Handwave that your character worked, if you want to. And most of all, Party On and Be Excellent To Each Other!

Cyrano de Bergerac

OTA

Cyrano is nervous--and he hates himself a little for it.

Allison is working during the festival, so before his meeting with her, Cyrano takes in the scenery. He gets himself something to drink at Pressed, but eventually turns to one of the mobile bars for a shot of liquid courage. He's too jittery to have a real appetite, so he doesn't eat--he wanders a bit, people watching, and inevitably finds a place to sit, notebook on his leg for a writing surface, lost in furiously scribbling poetry.

It has become a common thing, this loss of control, spiraling into words and beats and verse. Since he first arrived--since he first met Allison--the muse has come undone.

And everything he sees has become a cause for poetic celebration.

Later In The Evening - closed to Allison

"...all right, I admit it: I enjoyed The Princess Bride."

His tone was grudging, but there was a small smile on his face as they returned to the food trucks to find something to eat before the showing of the next movie. Their plans hadn't worked out quite as they'd hoped, because by the time Allison was free, the movie was about to start and she'd been hell bent to get his eyes on it.

Now, she was insisting Temple of Doom would be just as good while they went looking for dinner to take to the second film.

Truthfully, he felt foolish now for being nervous--she'd been good company during the movie, patient the few times he had to whisper to her with questions, even making a few jokes that had him fighting laughter. He came out of it with his spirits high, ready to have a good time...comfortable.

He even forgot to be worried about the nature of the outing.

"All right," he sighed, rubbing his hands together, "what trough are we gorging ourselves on this eve, hmm?"

"Would it be horrible of me to say I told you so?" Allison asked, enjoying the grudging note to his comment when he admitted to the fact that he had enjoyed The Princess Bride. Not that she was at all surprised by it considering she had a feeling he would like the storyline but it was still nice to know that her guess had been right on the nose.

Ahem.

Now she was doing her best to convince him about going to a second movie which wasn't all that hard to do considering he had enjoyed the first. And truthfully, so had she. He had been good company all throughout which was a nice change. Just even going to the movies and having a good time without there being an issue was a nice change.

"Mmm, I don't know. I'm thinking pizza or tacos, what do you think?"

"Yes, it would--but I'll not begrudge you." Cyrano replied to her little wisecrack with a grin before he gave her food suggestions serious consideration.

"Tacos, you say? I can't rightfully say I've ever tried one." he admitted, shooting her a sidelong glance as he narrowed his eyes in mock suspicion.

"Can I trust you, mon amie?"

"Oh, of course," Allison stated with a smirk, the kind with a hint of mischief that said he probably shouldn't trust her. She was kidding, of course, because she could be trusted. Especially when it came to tacos.

"I promise you'll like them." She told him then as they started to walk.

"I don't have high hopes for this meal." he drawled suspiciously, eyes twinkling as they headed for the trucks.

A short time later, they found a place on the sand to sit with their food, as well as some drinks...and yet again, Allison did not lead him astray.

Cyrano decided tacos were his favorite food.

After polishing off his and wondering aloud about going back for more, he soon started staring at her food with a hungry, playful eye as he sipped the beer he'd gotten to go with his food, at Allison's recommendation.

"You goin' te eat that, mon amie?" Cyrano asked with a raised eyebrow, nodding to her cardboard tray--with the tacos she was, quite obviously, still eating.

Despite his playful protests, Allison could see that she had been right once more in what he would enjoy. Not that she would tell him most everyone enjoyed tacos but she felt a bit of smug satisfaction over just how much he seemed to enjoy them along with the beer she had suggested.

He was quick to polish his off while she took more time, chewing thoughtfully when she spied him eyeing one of hers before finally drumming up enough courage to ask if she was going to eat the one he was setting his heart upon.

"Non, prends-le." She murmured, giving a little motion for him to take the taco before taking another bite of her own with a chuckle.
