WHAT: arrivals, settling in, general mayhem

Fulton wanders the place when he arrives, confused as hell. This has to be a dream, right? Mad Max shit, the way everything looks, but he pinches the inside of his elbow and nothing changes. Weird.

A guy at a booth waves him over, and he looks over at him as he heads that way with no small amount of suspicion. Adults are pretty iffy at best, he learned that early, but the guy smiles and pushes something at him and rambles about a Guardian then gives him a couple cookies, like it makes any kind of sense. But he takes them anyway, stuffs the envelope in his pocket for later only to find something already in there, so he waves absently and stalks off, working through the first cookie while he looks the thing over. Kind of like a phone, only smaller, but he at least knows how phones work. The screen blares into life, colors and tinned music, and he almost walks into somebody, mumbling an apology as he looks up, a twist of regret in his expression before he keeps moving.

The Caldera's at least familiar, and he heads there once he finds where he's supposed to be living and digs out his rollerblades, stick, and puck from a box. None of the Ducks are here, but that's....okay. It will be, it'll have to be, so he skates around, tries to work on his skills there, shoots the puck around a few times.

He gets in a fight with one of the locals, over something stupid, walks away with a split lip and a black eye before somebody manages to intervene and pull him off. It's fine. It's all fine, everything is fine./cut>

Moving into Serenity

She's honestly not sure how Jayne managed to get assigned someone to look after. Luck of the draw, she supposes. But the boy seems nice enough. Friendly. Big. Bigger than Jayne, maybe.

River peeks around the doorway while she watches the new boy unpack his things in the bunk they gave him. "Welcome. Are you from Earth?"

This whole place is really weird. It's nice enough, sure, but a spaceship? To live in? He's gotta be dreaming, it's the only thing that makes any kind of sense, but he already established he isn't. He's got a guardian, which is less cool; he's almost an adult, he shouldn't need one! Not like he hasn't been more or less taking care of himself for the past few years anyway. And the guy's big and tough, the kind who looks like he'd tell him how big and bad he is to get him to behave, and he's already had enough of that.

But he ducks into the bunk he's directed to, carefully looks through his things and hides them away out of sight, all but jumping when the voice interrupts, quick to stash things even quicker, like it's somehow important she not see them.

"...hey. Uh, yeah."

"So many people here from Earth. It's a ponderance." She moves a little closer, sitting on the top step of the ladder. Moving slowly, not wanting to startle the new creature that is Fulton.

"My name is River. I live here, too. Serenity has been my home for a while now. I'm glad to have her here."

'A ponderance'. Right. Like that's a word people use. He stares at her, like he doesn't quite understand her, but the rest of it is easy enough to follow. He doesn't move, doesn't try to bolt past her, though he's definitely still uneasy about the whole thing.

"That's the name of the ship? Serenity?"
