Arrivals - Beachville - OPEN LOG

Who: You and Jerry, the info booth guy!
What: Arrivals! Information! Money! New Homes!
Where: What's commonly referred to as the Information Hub.
When: August 15th, Mid Afternoon.
Synopsis: New faces arrive in Beachville. Jerry is a helper! Probably! Most likely, he isn't. At least, not as well as people wish. He can only tell people so much, see. But there are cookies, if you aren't a jerk.

It starts off simple enough. There isn't even any warning. No feeling like something's coming. No little instinct in the back of your head or what have you that tells you change is coming. You blink, your setting has changed. It's as simple and as quick as that. From where you stand, you're surrounded by tall palm trees. The ground beneath your feet is a mix of dirt and sand and you can smell the ocean. A clean, salty scent only found on untouched, tropical paradises. You can hear the sounds of the beach. People laughing, amusement park rides thundering in the background. And it's actually pretty peaceful. Even the weather is perfect. Just the right amount of Summer heat without being muggy or humid. There are tropical birds singing in the trees around you, and a light breeze in the trees, rustling the leaves. It's pleasant. Until someone clears their throat nearby. And this is when you notice you're not the only person standing there with a confused look on your face. You're part of a crowd, surrounding an information booth with an older gentleman inside.

Was that information booth always there? And how long has the man inside been watching you with that look on his face that suggests he's internally sighing at your presence? He seems friendly enough, however, and once all eyes are on him, he begins speaking.

"Can I have your attention please?" he says, voice calm, lightly accented. And certainly 'no nonsense.' "My name is Jerry Schiff and I run the information booth. I have several envelopes with names on them, so if you hear your name, please step forward and claim your money and information."

With that, he runs down the list of names. And what do you know, your name is on that list.

When you approach, you'll be handed a packet containing money, enough to get through the month, and an information pamphlet about Beachville, along with a note from the mayor welcoming you to town and telling you your stipend only lasts so long and there are many employment opportunities in town. There's also a map with an address and a set of keys. This is where you'll live. The last thing he says to you is to check the chest in your living-room, you'll know which one, before he hands the polite people a box of cookies. They smell amazing and the box is warm, like they're very, very fresh. You might even find your favorite cookies in the box. They've won awards and are delicious. Just as an aside, though; for anyone that's rude, no cookies. For anyone that tries to take a box anyway, they'll find the box is empty. Maybe even full of dead leaves and rocks. That's what you get for acting up, apparently.

Rude enough and he'll shut the information booth windows. No amount of knocking and screaming, magic or psychic abilities will get the doors open again. The booth is pretty resistant, as is the man inside.

Once everyone has their information, Jerry will thank everyone for their cooperation, close the booth down and head into town. Try to follow him. After rounding a corner, he'll seem to vanish and no amount of looking will find him again.

It seems as though the only things left to do are either talk to the people around you, or find your new home.

"When was the last time, you and I both had any good luck? There's got to be a catch here somewhere."

He paused when he heard his name and went to go get his items. As he came back, he looked curiously at the box of cookies.

"This is a very strange place. Hold this- and don't eat them!" He ordered and handed over the box. He opened the envelope and frowned with confusion. "They.. gave us money? And.." He looked back at Peter. "Hey, go get yours. There's a key and address." He wasn't liking the idea of Peter being somewhere separate from him in this weird place.

"Yeah, I know what you mean, but it's nice now. Might as well enjoy it." Peter shrugs but he's really alarmingly used to things going well before they go to Hell. He starts to open the box up to see what's inside but immediately stops when Tony tells him not to eat it. He wasn't going to! Probably.

Then he goes and gets his welcome packet and his cookies are warm chocolate chip. He may or may not already be eating one when he comes back over.

"Looks like I'm on Leedit Circle." He says, eating his cookie. "Where'd they put you?"

Tony was pretty sure that kind of attitude was going to land Peter in counseling as soon as they found a shrink on this island. Anyway..

As he sorted through his packet, he found the key and address. When he read the street name though, he almost dropped it like the scrap of paper bit him. "What the hell? Is this some kind of sick joke?" He turned back to the man in the information booth. "Why is my address from a house that was destroyed years ago in here?"

Peter takes a slightly startled step backwards at Tony's sudden movement and then moves again to see if he could sneak a peek at the paper. "Can I see?" He asks before looking up to frown at Jerry.

"So the Mayor gave you all these and then shut the office for the day? How'd she know we were coming? We didn't even know we were coming."

Tony handed over the whole envelope so Peter could see when he asked for it. He was now glad the boy had his cookies too.

"Have other people shown up like this before?" He asked, tacking it on to Peter's list of questions. He glanced around them before sighing. Whatever the reason they were here, they were stuck now.

"Is this a real street here?"

Peter wasn't expecting to have the whole envelope shoved his way and quickly readjusts so that he can hold everything. In his current predicament though, he's not too sure he can get a look at that address and his grip feels a little precarious.

"Uh... Mr Stark..." He starts, struggling to hold onto everything.

Tony sighed again and tapped his knuckles on the wooden counter between him and Jerry. "Well, guess we need to go check this out. Anything else we should know that might be helpful, Cookie Man?"

He glanced over at Peter and took back his cookies. That was the important thing in the bunch.

"Can I come?" Peter asks, now no longer overloaded with things to hold. Still, he somehow manages to struggle. He just wants to sit down and eat all his cookies. "I wanna see your house."

He nodded at that answer. "Well, in that case, thank you for the packet and the cookies. Even if it was mildly creepy."

Turning away, he put an arm around Peter's shoulders and steered him toward the road. He glanced around for taxis or something. "Sure, then we'll check out yours. I need to know where to expect the first explosion."

Peter gives Jerry a quick apology before allowing Tony to steer in a different direction.

"Awesome." Peter states, actually excited to see what house this place would give Tony. He's also already wandering if he's allowed to stay the night sometimes. Obviously, this first night he'd definitely going to spend wit Gwen but not like that.

"Do you see a taxi or bus or anything?" He asked as they continued down the street. He wished he'd been given a map. That would've been more helpful than cookies.

He suddenly pointed. "Is that a streetcar? Come on!" He took off toward the trolley hoping to catch it on the next stop. Although he really didn't have any way of knowing if that would take them where they needed to go or not.
