The Worst kind of Snowball Fight:

Who: Driftcrest Wall Guards and YOU
What: Final Fight/Items/Recovery
When: 5th of April
Where: An old gold mine a mile or so away from Driftcrest.
Warnings: Swearing. Violence. Injuries.

Load'em Up:

The people researching the Unseen have managed to crack the mystery wide open, much more than anyone else has been. Of course, these people have the benefit of being outsiders. For starters, they know where to look to find the unusual, things that don't match up while the residents of Driftcrest? 'That's just how it's always been', they'll say. Unhelpful, but they're not aware of it.

It took a few people, but a location was finally pinpointed and investigated and sure enough, a large group of Unseen were sleeping the day away in a mining cave. A good enough amount, in fact, that the captain of the guard decided to spend a few days training anyone willing to help destroy the threat for good.

And so, from April first to today, this very morning at 6 AM in fact, people have been in training. There's now a group of people armed with various incendiary devices, being loaded into the waiting vehicles. Are you one of those number? If so, what are you doing?

Are you a field medic? Fighter? Whatever you are, you're going to be busy.

Fight'em Hard:

While the drive to the mine is short, the fight will feel like it goes on forever with no sign of any headway being made. The Unseen can't phase out, so they're easy to attack. But they're durable. Tough. Quick.

Prone to biting back but letting go once they figure out there's fire nearby and while they're doing their best to project fear, it's not nearly as effective as it was in Driftcrest at night. In fact, some time into the fight, they seem to be affecting each other with their own fear and they start fighting each other. Effectively cutting down their own numbers, all while fire does the rest.

Later on, people will hear the fighting only lasted 37 minutes, but it feels like it's going for hours.

Keep pushing through, folks. Driftcrest is depending on you.

Pick'em Up:

When the last Unseen falls, exploding into quickly melting snow and ice, just like the rest of the creatures, there's silence for a grand total of five seconds. It's not really long enough to recover ones wits and footing, but there'll be time for that later.

At the moment, a box has appeared in the middle of the cave. Was it there before? Not really. There might be glimpses of it during the fight, but anyone that spots it will have an Unseen after them, so no attempts to get to it will be successful until all of the Unseen are gone.

And now, it's visible and it wants everyone's attention. There's sounds coming from it. Voices. Whispering at first, but then they're shouting and a lot of those voices sound familiar.

Gwen...Tandy...Evie. Anyone else you might know that had been turned into an ice statue. At first, it's hard to hear what they're saying. The whispers sound a lot like 'thank you' over and over, but then as they get louder the words switch to 'step back step back STEP BACK!' over and over, and it's best that you listen. When the voices are at their loudest, the box will shatter in a blinding flash, scattering items everywhere.

That beloved book your favorite librarian carried everywhere, that chipped coffee mug your favorite barista at that mom and pop shop you love always had their morning coffee in.

But there's something odd about them. Items seem to call to specific people, in voices only those people can hear. And those people will feel quite a pull to pick those items up.

Once they have those items in hand, they'll know exactly who they go to and they'll know what to do. There'll be a mad rush to leave the cave and get to the vehicles, a sense of urgency, that the mission isn't done yet. Just get it near their icy owner and watch.

Recovery:

The Unseen are gone, missing items are found. And now, it's time to get those people out of the statues.

Get them within a foot of their owner, and watch what happens. Watch carefully and be ready, this'll be over quick. Ice sculptures will start to crack and fall apart, bits of the person underneath seen to move slightly as if the person is finally able to fight their way out. The more the person inside fights, the more the ice thins out and shatters, cracking and fracturing along joints and hitting the ground, melting rapidly, much like the ice and snow in Driftcrest in general.

It seems as though freeing those people and destroying the Unseen lifted some kind of spell or curse that had befallen Driftcrest entirely. And the more the people are freed from their icy prisons, the warmer the air gets, as if Summer was rushing in and trying to make up for lost time.

The former ice statues are very unstable on their feet and might faint the second they're out of the ice, so please catch them and carry them to the waiting ambulances. They need time to recover. Be careful. It's muddy. Don't slip and hurt yourself, too.

Other Notes:

While people are recovering, Summer is returning to Driftcrest. The temperature will go from unpleasantly cold, to probably the best Summer day you've ever had in your life. Children are outside playing. Florists are stuffing their windows full of things they haven't been able to sell in years. Color is finally returning to Driftcrest and everyone seems so overjoyed, it's almost contagious.

Please note, former ice statues, you're going to be recovering for a while. While you're doing so, Driftcrest is setting up for a celebration.

Don't worry; everyone'll be mostly recovered by then. But for now, take it easy.

Everyone's earned some down time.

This is a log for everyone. Whether you're at the fight helping in some way, or waiting at the statues to keep them safe and see what's going on. Everyone can hop in.

"Hey." She said by way of greeting when the blonde arched a brow at her, clearly confused by the stranger's appearance in her room. Not that Jess blamed her because she would have been pretty confused in her shoes too. But Jess couldn't really keep her distance.

"I was the one who brought you here," She doesn't mention finding the weird little contraptions that she had found. She would ask about them later, probably, but that didn't seem important right now. "I guess I live with you too."

"Jessica Jones." She added then.

"Oh! Uh...okay...cool..." Gwen doesn't remember this woman for shit, but her spider-senses aren't telling her anything is wrong. She's going to go out on a limb and trust Jessica.

"Wait...you do?" Hold the fucking phone. "Since when?"

"Just a few days which is when I arrived here," Which she sounds super pleased about but there isn't much she can do about it. So she is just kind of rolling with it for the moment. Plus getting out of New York doesn't seem all that bad right now.

"Why I got put in with you and the others instead of an apartment, I don't know." She shrugs as she claims one of the chairs. "But if it's a problem, I can look for something else."

"No, it's fine. The house needs an adult anyway. It's just been me and Miles for a while." Someone new would be fun. But Gwen's not getting any kind of Same Hat sense from the woman, so Gwen and Miles will have to play Human. Which isn't too big a problem for Gwen.

Miles, however, was a New Spider.

Eh. Gwen has faith in him. It'll be fine.

"We just hope you don't mind cats or drumming. Or two kids with a love of taking cans of spray-paint to the garage on occasion."

There was a tiny snort of amusement at the idea of her being the adult of the house but she understands what Gwen means. Maybe it's a good thing though because then she can keep an eye out for them, especially while Gwen is recuperating.

"As long as you don't take spray-paint to my room, I'm fine." She was getting used to the cats and, well, she could leave for a while if the drumming was getting to her.

"It's not like I'm really going to enforce rules on you guys." A little shrug.

"The spray paint is just for outside the house," Gwen states with a small smile. "And inside the garage when Miles and I get bored. Neither of us drive, so there's no car in there. It's just kind of become a hang-out space for ourselves and our cats."

Man, they're going to have to stop making web hammocks. They'll invest in actual hammocks.

"Are you sure it's okay that I am staying there?" Jessica asks, arching a brow again as she looks the girl over. "You seem really uneasy about something."

Maybe it could be the lingering effects of what happened to her but she can see that something is on her mind. Has been pretty much from the moment that Jessica announced she was living in their house. Which she can't really blame her for since Jess didn't like anyone really being in her apartment either but she can't help being curious.

"I hate hospitals. I don't like the way they smell, or the noise, or the fact that nurses are all 'get some rest, sweetie!!' and then come into your room every like...hour to check temperatures or take blood. Top that off with feeling like parts of me are still frozen and I'm...really sorry for coming off weird." Gwen genuinely means every word of this, Jessica. She doesn't mean to come off awkward. Sure, she's actually legit hiding something, but that's not really anything she's gonna talk about just yet. So Jess gets a genuine, if tired, smile from Gwen.

"And yeah, it's cool if you stay. I promise. It'll be nice to have extra people in the house."

"Yeah, that's pretty much why I avoid hospitals as much as I can," Gwen is pretty much right on about the smell, the noise, and the nurses. Plus hospitals just hold a lot of bad memories for Jess which is why she avoids them even when she should go in. Thankfully, being able to heal quickly makes it easier for her.

"Don't worry about it," She slides her hands into the pockets of her jacket, glancing over her shoulder again before looking back to see the tired smile. "I just thought I'd ask since I know it's kind of weird to have a stranger in your home."

"I should probably let you sleep. Do you want me to tell the nurses to leave you alone for a bit?"
