The Worst kind of Snowball Fight:

Who: Driftcrest Wall Guards and YOU
What: Final Fight/Items/Recovery
When: 5th of April
Where: An old gold mine a mile or so away from Driftcrest.
Warnings: Swearing. Violence. Injuries.

Load'em Up:

The people researching the Unseen have managed to crack the mystery wide open, much more than anyone else has been. Of course, these people have the benefit of being outsiders. For starters, they know where to look to find the unusual, things that don't match up while the residents of Driftcrest? 'That's just how it's always been', they'll say. Unhelpful, but they're not aware of it.

It took a few people, but a location was finally pinpointed and investigated and sure enough, a large group of Unseen were sleeping the day away in a mining cave. A good enough amount, in fact, that the captain of the guard decided to spend a few days training anyone willing to help destroy the threat for good.

And so, from April first to today, this very morning at 6 AM in fact, people have been in training. There's now a group of people armed with various incendiary devices, being loaded into the waiting vehicles. Are you one of those number? If so, what are you doing?

Are you a field medic? Fighter? Whatever you are, you're going to be busy.

Fight'em Hard:

While the drive to the mine is short, the fight will feel like it goes on forever with no sign of any headway being made. The Unseen can't phase out, so they're easy to attack. But they're durable. Tough. Quick.

Prone to biting back but letting go once they figure out there's fire nearby and while they're doing their best to project fear, it's not nearly as effective as it was in Driftcrest at night. In fact, some time into the fight, they seem to be affecting each other with their own fear and they start fighting each other. Effectively cutting down their own numbers, all while fire does the rest.

Later on, people will hear the fighting only lasted 37 minutes, but it feels like it's going for hours.

Keep pushing through, folks. Driftcrest is depending on you.

Pick'em Up:

When the last Unseen falls, exploding into quickly melting snow and ice, just like the rest of the creatures, there's silence for a grand total of five seconds. It's not really long enough to recover ones wits and footing, but there'll be time for that later.

At the moment, a box has appeared in the middle of the cave. Was it there before? Not really. There might be glimpses of it during the fight, but anyone that spots it will have an Unseen after them, so no attempts to get to it will be successful until all of the Unseen are gone.

And now, it's visible and it wants everyone's attention. There's sounds coming from it. Voices. Whispering at first, but then they're shouting and a lot of those voices sound familiar.

Gwen...Tandy...Evie. Anyone else you might know that had been turned into an ice statue. At first, it's hard to hear what they're saying. The whispers sound a lot like 'thank you' over and over, but then as they get louder the words switch to 'step back step back STEP BACK!' over and over, and it's best that you listen. When the voices are at their loudest, the box will shatter in a blinding flash, scattering items everywhere.

That beloved book your favorite librarian carried everywhere, that chipped coffee mug your favorite barista at that mom and pop shop you love always had their morning coffee in.

But there's something odd about them. Items seem to call to specific people, in voices only those people can hear. And those people will feel quite a pull to pick those items up.

Once they have those items in hand, they'll know exactly who they go to and they'll know what to do. There'll be a mad rush to leave the cave and get to the vehicles, a sense of urgency, that the mission isn't done yet. Just get it near their icy owner and watch.

Recovery:

The Unseen are gone, missing items are found. And now, it's time to get those people out of the statues.

Get them within a foot of their owner, and watch what happens. Watch carefully and be ready, this'll be over quick. Ice sculptures will start to crack and fall apart, bits of the person underneath seen to move slightly as if the person is finally able to fight their way out. The more the person inside fights, the more the ice thins out and shatters, cracking and fracturing along joints and hitting the ground, melting rapidly, much like the ice and snow in Driftcrest in general.

It seems as though freeing those people and destroying the Unseen lifted some kind of spell or curse that had befallen Driftcrest entirely. And the more the people are freed from their icy prisons, the warmer the air gets, as if Summer was rushing in and trying to make up for lost time.

The former ice statues are very unstable on their feet and might faint the second they're out of the ice, so please catch them and carry them to the waiting ambulances. They need time to recover. Be careful. It's muddy. Don't slip and hurt yourself, too.

Other Notes:

While people are recovering, Summer is returning to Driftcrest. The temperature will go from unpleasantly cold, to probably the best Summer day you've ever had in your life. Children are outside playing. Florists are stuffing their windows full of things they haven't been able to sell in years. Color is finally returning to Driftcrest and everyone seems so overjoyed, it's almost contagious.

Please note, former ice statues, you're going to be recovering for a while. While you're doing so, Driftcrest is setting up for a celebration.

Don't worry; everyone'll be mostly recovered by then. But for now, take it easy.

Everyone's earned some down time.

This is a log for everyone. Whether you're at the fight helping in some way, or waiting at the statues to keep them safe and see what's going on. Everyone can hop in.

Evie Grimhilde - One Closed - One Open

[personal profile] blueberryprincess 2021-04-06 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I want to break free: Closed to Mal and Eggsy.

Evie's unaware of how long she's been a statue. She's just aware that she heard voices calling to her in the night. Mal. Carlos. Jay. Gansey. Everyone she cared for, calling for her and asking for help. And then cold. So much cold it actually hurt before feeling nothing.

Now, however, she's feeling again. She's aware again. How much is she aware of, that remains to be seen. But there's a hum in the air around her, a vibration that she fights to move with and at first, it's difficult. She feels that cold again, but it doesn't feel like it's going to go on forever like it did before. This time, it feels like it's fading. She's not sure if she hears voices again or not, but someone or something is calling to her and she has to get to it.

So she fights because that's what Evie does. She's a damn fighter. In any universe, that's one of Evie's many skills. She hears fracturing around her, and the air gets warmer with each shattering sound. She pushes against something holding her right, feels it weaken and pushes more. Pushes harder. Bit by bit, Evies freed. She's paler than usual, almost bluish from the cold that encased her, but warming up the more the ice falls away.

When the rest of it falls to the ground, Evie gets a glimpse of a familiar face and, quite shakily and breathlessly, she says one name.

"Mal."

The smile that follows seems to take whatever energy's left out of her because her eyes roll some into the back of her head and she starts falling. Someone catch her, please.

You should see me in a crown: OTA

Evie's now in the hospital, listening to doctors explain her situation and that it's un precedented. No one's come back from being a statue. Not ever. Not once. They need to keep her for observation, to make sure there's no residual effects from being a statue. And Evie wants to listen, really she does. She wants to rest and recover. Everything hurts, she's tired. Sounds are too loud and too quiet and she goes from cold to warm at the drop of a hat.

But she's worried. There'd been a fight. The Unseen were gone. But she wants to know her other friends and family are okay.

Shivering some and wrapping the robe someone loaned her shoulders, she turns her head when someone knocks on the door. It's probably another doctor, come to ask her how she's doing, but she'll be polite.

"Come in," Evie says, voice sort of rough and hoarse. She sits up and tries to fix her hair, trying to look presentable before whoever it is comes in.

Mal isn't entirely sure how long Evie has been a statue either but even just a day is too long in her books. But she spends most of her time near Evie's statue except for when she is forced away by the curfew or the plans going on to get everyone freed. When it comes time, she is there waiting for her friend to get out and so she sees when the ice starts to break. Anyone nearby can hear her shaky gasp at the moment Evie gets out, looking alarmingly pale, almost bluish, but still free.

"Evie." Her eyes sting a bit but then she is rushing forward to help catch her best friend. After that, it's more important to get Evie to the hospital which is where Mal stays too. If she can't be close, then she paces in the hallway until she is given the go-ahead.

Then she is at Evie's bedside, sitting in a hard plastic chair and holding onto Evie's hand as she waits for her to wake up. When Evie finally stirs, Mal is on her feet and leaning over her, brushing the blue hair back from her face. "Evie? Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

Mal wasn't the only one to keep vigil--especially after the lot of tossers Eggsy came across trying to have a go at one of the victims, then at the wild-haired young man trying to step up on their behalf.

No, ever since, he's been watching over the girl in the ice. He talks to her sometimes, when no one is around--about home, his sister, about the Kingsmen.

About Harry.

He talks to her, watches over her--keeps silent, comfortable company with the girl from that first day, Mal. Pretty quickly, he's staying with her as much as he's staying with the girl in the ice (Evie, she has a name, but it doesn't feel quite real yet and he doesn't want to give her a name until he knows he's not about to lose someone else), and feels like it's a good damn thing.

As antsy as he is to help, to care, she's antsier by half, and he's not sure about Mal? But knowing someone else is just as eager to bust a few things up does help to keep him calm.

Until there's signs of life, he's in the corner of Evie's room, toying with the signet ring he's wearing, even in his more casual track suit. The moment Mal perks, Eggsy's by her in a shot, standing just behind her chair as she rises to hover over Evie.

"Easy, luv." he soothes, resting a hand on Mal's shoulder. "She's had a bit of a knock, yeah? Give 'er room to sit up if it's in her."

Evies eyes open at the voices, one of them registering as familiar and loved. And the other registers as...something. Vaguely familiar, but she could swear she’s never heard it in her life. At the moment, that doesn’t matter, because a pair of very brown, very anxious eyes are on her best friend and Evie looks alarmed and relieved and probably a moment or two away from shedding happy tears.

“Mal?” She says, at first in disbelief, but then realization sets in. That’s her best friend and her sister. She’s really right there. “Mal, oh my Fairy Godmother.”

She feels like the worst kind of crap right now, but that’s really not about to stop the blue haired princess from sitting up and throwing her arms around Mal. She might overbalanced a bit, but that’s fine.

“I haven’t seen you in months, and then I was having this awful dream where you needed help and I couldn’t get to you. But you’re here. Mal, you’re really here.” She’s going to be clinging to her best friend like a life preserver for a minute or two before she looks and notices Eggsy.

Her eyes go right to his, locking on but the stare is curiosity. “Hello,” she says after a soft sniffle. “I’m sorry. Do I know you?”

Jessica - OTA

[personal profile] walkingshitshow 2021-04-07 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT...

While Jessica is damn good at research, she is also good at fighting. Especially when the Unseen suddenly become seen and easy to hit. Okay, no, the hitting isn't really easy but Jess is good at digging in and taking whatever openings she can get. She isn't a graceful fighter as she focuses on raw power instead, moving around as others fight, looking for the right point when she can dart in and do some damage. Which consists of her either grabbing an Unseen and sending them flying into a wall or each other. Or by punching them really hard. Harder than one would think possible at first glance.

When she gets hurt, she does so with a grunt or a swear. She even punches an Unseen in the head when it bites her, managing to knock it off of her before she kicks it and sends it flying a couple of feet. Then she stalks over, ignoring the burning pain in her shoulder as she leans down to punch the thing again.

PICK EM UP

It's a relief when the fight is over though but the job isn't done. Jessica doesn't know how or why but one of the items that come out of the box seems to call to her, so she picks it up. After that, she is swarmed by images that she doesn't recognize. Memories that certainly aren't her own as she focuses on the blonde that appears in each and every one.

When they're done, she goes in search of the ice statue that most closely resembles the girl she has seen. When Gwen breaks free, Jess is right there to catch her, wincing once because of how the action pulls at her shoulder but, again, she ignores it. She merely hefts Gwen up into her arms with the intention of getting her to the hospital as quickly as she can.

After that, she just sort of hangs around despite the fact that she has been patched up and told she can leave. She seems to be hanging around, waiting for news on Gwen or for the girl to wake up.

Mal still doesn't know what to think of the guy who has been hanging around but he seems like an okay sort. The interest makes her wary though because, no offense to him, but he is someone new and she can't help but be protective. But they get along, spending their time in companionable silence most of the time and idle chit-chat in others.

But it all doesn't really matter when Evie finally wakes up and Mal feels almost dizzy with relief. There is no hiding the way her eyes shimmer as she smiles through the threat of tears, her chest feeling tight as she swoops in to hug Evie back when her best friend throws her arms around her.

"Yeah, I'm here. I got here...a little while ago," she doesn't want to say it was after Evie had been turned into an ice statue but it doesn't need to be said. It just hangs there between them.

At least until Eggsy steps in, cautioning her to take it easy which makes her stiffen as she straightens and gives him a glare. Again, the feeling of being protective (and maybe a little territorial) surges through her and he might actually see her eyes go green for a second until she catches herself. Pressing her lips together in a way that causes her nose to wrinkle, she stares at him for a second longer before easing back. But, oh, she is still staying close.

One can't grow up on a prison island and not know how to read people. It doesn't take much more than a glance at Eggsy for Evie to understand he's okay. More than okay. He had zero reason to be there (that she's aware of) and yet, here he was. Making sure she was okay (why?) and keeping her best friend company. That put him on Evie's good side.

There's also something to be said for protecting yours, especially when you grew up in a place where most people were out to kill you or your loved ones, so Evie understood why Mal behaved the way she did. She barely blinks at the flashing of green in her eyes. She's used to it. She's seen it so often it doesn't register much, just that it turns to look at Mal with one eyebrow raised and a gentle but warning 'sweetie' directed at her best friend.

That might be the princess in her, taking gentle charge of a situation that could very easily tip the wrong way.

"A little while ago?" Evie asks, confusion on her face for a moment. "What do you mean, a little while ago?" She moves to sit up more but a small wave of dizziness hits her and she lets out a soft 'oh', sitting back on the pillows with a mildly irritated huff. No, she wasn't a fan of feeling like this at all.

"Where are you two staying?" She has a message or two from Jerry on her phone, but her phone is at home, so she really hasn't the foggiest what's going on.

It's about an hour or so before a nurse heads to Jessica to tell her Gwen is awake. The nurse must think Jess is a friend, otherwise it's possible her hanging around wouldn't be tolerated. Or they're aware that Jess brought her in, and therefor think it best to inform the woman of the teenagers current status.

Which is, as stated, awake. And sort of nauseated. Hurting all over. Cold. Sounds are too loud, lights are too bright. So the room she's in now has the curtains drawn.

And she's sitting up, eyeing the IV in her arm with a faint wrinkle of her nose, and listening to the steady beep of the monitor she's hooked up to. Her webshooters are back on her wrists, back where they belong, and Gwen is really trying hard to piece together what happened and failing.

When the nurse knocks to tell her she has a guest, she expects Miles. Someone she knows. But the face is unfamiliar and Gwen just raises an eyebrow in greeting.

Orion Ayers | OTA

Fight 'em

Before a few days ago, Orion had never wielded a flamethrower in his life. Luckily, he learned quickly, and by the time the day of the fight rolled around, he felt prepared. He didn't hesitate to enter the cave, steps steady and sure. The scenery might have changed, and he might have been using different weapons, but this was what he did. It was who he was.

He wasn't afraid of the Unseen, not after everything else he'd experienced, and he didn't shy away from them during the fight. In fact, when one lunged around his fire, catching him across the arm with claws and teeth, he punched it square in the face, sending it tumbling back.

"Son of a-"

That hurt. But he was used to that, too, and instead of taking any time to let it sink in how much it hurt, he turned his flames on the creature.

Post Fight

After everything was said and done and the Unseen were taken care of, Orion gave his flamethrower back to the guards and went around to check on everyone who'd participated in the fight.

"Are you doing alright?" he asked. "I'm not a medic, but..." he trailed off. He could talk, at least, if anyone needed to vent or de-stress after what they'd been through. Monsters might have been common where he came from, but he knew not everyone was used to fighting them.

Kieran Prince | OTA

Fight?

Armed with Molotovs, Kieran was doing the best he could. He was particularly flammable himself, as if normal people weren't also flammable, too, so he'd opted not to get an actual flamethrower. He didn't trust himself with it. With his luck, he'd end up setting himself on fire, somehow. Molotovs? Less risk. Still a risk, but less of one.

That didn't stop him from being intimidated by the Unseen though, shrieking and diving out of the way when one leaped at him. He managed to keep hold of his Molotov though, hurrying to light it while he scooted across the ground. Succeeding, he threw it at the creature and then got the hell out of the way as it thrashed around, going up in flames.

Post Fight

He didn't bother trying to smother a yawn as he slinked out of the cave, squinting at the offending sunlight.

"I never want to have to do something like that again," he said. Don't get him wrong, he was glad he could help save the day, but he wasn't a fighter and it was even weirder to be awake during the day and be unscathed by the sun.

"I've had enough excitement without fighting monsters."

Load 'em Up

Adam had gotten almost no sleep the night before, and not for lack of trying. He'd tossed and turned most of the night, worrying about all of the things that could go wrong today. There was no way to make him stop worrying, either; only time would tell how things were going to go.

He wasn't a fighter himself, so he'd been working on medical training so he could still be useful in some way. He wished he could stop people from becoming injured in the first place, but he knew that wasn't possible. All he could do was take care of people after they were hurt.

He took a deep breath. "Everything's going to be fine," he said, more for his own benefit than anyone else's.

After the Fighting

Adam did what he could to tend to people's wounds after the Unseen had been defeated. He talked to people quietly, kindly, did what he could to reassure and comfort them, all while keeping an eye out for Ronan and Gansey, trying to make sure they were alright, too.

Bruce steps into the room quietly, closing the door behind him. It's good to see Evie safe and sound again. He doubts he'll ever shake that protective feeling he has towards her. While he may not be that Bruce Wayne? There's still a part of him that's the same as that one. Protecting innocent people and making sure they have a better life than he ever could have.

Which is why he is all smiles of 'Bruce Wayne' at her. He has an image to maintain, and there's the fact that people might find it odd he's visiting a younger woman. It's a good thing he can pull out the fact that he represents the ones who don't quite fit in to Mr. Wechester. It lets him get away with a few things.

"I'm surprised the hair is still the same color."

He wonders if she ever saw the Batman standing at a distance as she fell out of that ice statue.

Honestly, she wasn't sure what she saw when she fell out of the ice. People were everywhere, her focus was on her best friend and then she woke up in the clinic. But if the Bat were there, with what Evie knows about Bruce? She wouldn't be surprised, and probably even feel a little touched.

Bruce gets the biggest grin when Evie sees him and she pushes herself to sit up. She's feeling much better than she did hours ago. She even has her tiara back, though that's sitting on the tray table to the side. There's really no call for it right now.

"Oh, the hair's a spell I did months ago. It'll be blue until I decide to change it," Evie states with a small shrug. Magic is pretty common where she's from.

"I'm happy to see you." It means he's safe and okay and that's really all Evie wants right now.

"Hey." She said by way of greeting when the blonde arched a brow at her, clearly confused by the stranger's appearance in her room. Not that Jess blamed her because she would have been pretty confused in her shoes too. But Jess couldn't really keep her distance.

"I was the one who brought you here," She doesn't mention finding the weird little contraptions that she had found. She would ask about them later, probably, but that didn't seem important right now. "I guess I live with you too."

"Jessica Jones." She added then.

He'd sent angels to protect people and demons to take on the Unseen and for the longest time, it didn't feel like it was enough. Eugene fought as hard as he could, sending pixelated fire at the Unseen, creating smaller demons to chase the Unseen down with their own fiery bite. And soaking in Video energy when he needed to reload.

He'd taken a few good hits, sure, but somewhere in the multiverse, Delsin Rowe was proud of him because Eugene kept pushing.

And then that box exploded and he could have sworn he heard Tandy's name. Once he got a hold of a hoodie, he knew what he had to do.

There was a whine and a static crackle as Eugene ran out the cave entrance, digital wings appearing on his back as he rocketed skyward and then straight to Driftcrest, landing at Tandy's statue and catching her a moment later. He was tired by this point, so he accompanied her in an ambulance to the hospital and waited until it was okay to see her.

And now, he was half-fallen out of a hard hospital chair, glasses knocked sideways and red and grey hoodie of his own pulled half over his face. And he's only snoring just a tiny, tiny bit.

FIGHT 'EM HARD
The Batman could be seen watching the last night of training. He is just out of reach, keeping an eye on the situation. It isn't until the band starts to mobilize that the Batman is on the move himself. It's unclear exactly how he arrived with the caravan at the mysterious cave, but, he is there speaking with those in charge about the operation.

When the fighting starts, perhaps you notice the suit as you fight. The Batman engages in hand-to-hand combat with the Unseen, including using fire as needed. It's a brutal scene of physical fighting, no matter where one might see him. Though along the lines he does get his left shoulder bit. There's a grunt through his distorted voice before throwing the Unseen off and shoving a grenade in it's mouth -- then he dips to the side before he is caught in the explosion.

He rolls and looks up. He can see what looks like someone flashing across the area. Above him is someone that looks like a wasp. Hm. So, the other heroes did show up. There's a few digital looking creatures as well. He imagines that sooner or later he'll see the spider-heroes too as well as Wonder Woman.

The Batman turns with his coat billowing out as he launches a few more grenades. "Get clear of the area!"

PICK 'EM UP & RECOVERY
Once the main herd has been cleared, the Batman follows up those that stalk into the cave. They may need the back up. He merges into the shadows of the cave expertly, and takes out those few Unseen that might be strangling around in the area. The familiar voices of his dreams return. The box--of course.

The box.

The Batman stands to the side and lets the the others handle the scene. The box opens and personal items fall out of it. Hm. It seems like it might be time to leave again. He goes back to the caravan and sits himself in one of the trucks. Be careful, you might be riding back with him.

Or, maybe, you're standing to the back of the Ice Sculpture Garden when they arrive and the newer victims start to melt from their ice-y prisons. In particular he stays within range of watching over the statues of Evie Grimhilde and Gwen Stacy. Just to be sure.

A few days pass and one can even find Bruce Wayne at the wall of what was once the Ice Sculpture Garden. He wears a long coat as he looks over the scene. His eyebrows are raised ever so slightly as he looks over the quiet scene that was once a cemetery.

It wasn't too long ago that he stood at a cemetery on a much sadder note.

It's hard not to return that grin on her face. With a glance over his shoulder at the door, Bruce crosses the few strides it takes to stand at her bedside. One shoulder is drooping a bit -- thanks to his own injury. That's not something he'll be bringing up though.

"Any idea on what color to make it next?" Bruce doesn't even bat an eye at the mention of 'spells'. Sometimes, it's just better if he lets comments pass him by. "I'm glad to see that you're back among the land of the thawed."

That sounded better in his head.

He may not bring up the injury, but Evie can tell something's wrong. She wants to ask, but not quite yet. For now, she'll let it go, even if she does glance at it and look worried. Bruce Wayne was important to her, for many reasons. She's allowed to look worried and concerned.

She nods to the chair and smiles a bit. "Please, by all means. I'm glad you're here."

Running fingers through her hair, she shrugs. "Oh, probably just a different shade of blue. I have my preferences and don't think any other color would look right on me, except for maybe a really dark brown."

Tilting her head a bit towards his shoulder, she just makes a simple request. "Please tell me honestly that you got that looked at."

That's all she wants.

It seems like she's recovering well enough. A smirk tugs at his face at her last comment. Apparently she doesn't need the Amazonian or Wayne blood to be perceptive.

"I took care of it." He says in regards to her statement. "The less questions asked about how I end up with battle scars without being at the battle the better."

Dual lives and all that.

Bruce shrugs slightly. There's several things to bring up and to mention. Maybe the most playful of ones would be a good starting point. The other topics can come after that.

"You have someone that's pretty protective of you." He comments with his eyebrows raised. "I think his exact words were 'piss off' when I contacted him for information about your disappearance."

He pauses.

"Mind telling me about him?"

Understood. She simply nods at what he says about battle scars, smiling in a way that's more Evie Wayne and less Evie Grimhilde. She gets it. Really, she does. So she'll trust him and leave it at that.

But his next statement just confuses her to no end for a moment, eyebrows furrowing and lips parting as if she's going to answer, but then she shakes her head.

In a moment, she'll have a clue as to who he's talking about. For now, she has to think. Who in this down did she know that'd tell Bruce to 'piss off'?

And then it hits her, and she's even more confused.

"Gary? Is that who you mean? Oh, I hardly know him. I only just met him, actually. Just a few hours after I was un-frozen."

She looks sort of shocked that he'd be that protective of him, blinking a bit and shaking her head.

"He's staying in my house. He arrived while I was a statue. Him and my best friend, Mal. But I've never met him outside of here."

Interesting.

Bruce gives a shrug with his good shoulder. It probably didn't help that he had asked for information with a screened username and near-military grade encryption. No loss there. The Batman is supposed to be more myth than fiction. If people could trace the Caped Crusader... there'd be a problem.

"His username is dolittle. He was asking if anyone knew you." He fishes into his coat to pull the phone out of his inner pocket. With a few swipes of his thumb, he has the post pulled up on the network, and is handing it over to Evie to look over. "Gansey was the one that told me about it. He was worried about you.... so was I."

"Just a few days which is when I arrived here," Which she sounds super pleased about but there isn't much she can do about it. So she is just kind of rolling with it for the moment. Plus getting out of New York doesn't seem all that bad right now.

"Why I got put in with you and the others instead of an apartment, I don't know." She shrugs as she claims one of the chairs. "But if it's a problem, I can look for something else."

"No, it's fine. The house needs an adult anyway. It's just been me and Miles for a while." Someone new would be fun. But Gwen's not getting any kind of Same Hat sense from the woman, so Gwen and Miles will have to play Human. Which isn't too big a problem for Gwen.

Miles, however, was a New Spider.

Eh. Gwen has faith in him. It'll be fine.

"We just hope you don't mind cats or drumming. Or two kids with a love of taking cans of spray-paint to the garage on occasion."

The monsters, the Unseen assholes, had known what they were doing when they had wanted to lure Tandy in. They had made her hear her mom and Ty calling for help which had been enough to get her outside to where they could capture her...and she was going to be mad about it for a while.

But right now her head felt like it was splitting in half as she finally started to wake up again. At first, she was confused by the bright lights and the beeping of a machine beside her. When she moved, she discovered rather quickly that everything ached which caused a slight groan to escape her. Then she realized where she was, blinking slowly in confusion as she looked around and spied Eugene in the chair beside her.

Pausing, she bit the inside of her cheek as she felt a pang of guilt for making him worry but then she was reaching over to nudge him. Or at least trying to. "Eugene. Wake up."
